Weekly IQ Who is Your Role Model - Walrath Recruiting, Inc.

Weekly IQ Who is Your Role Model - Walrath Recruiting, Inc. After a long break, were back once again with a new interview question. This week, well be discussing how you should answer, Who is your role model in an interview. This question is one that most people may overthink, because its actually quite simple to answer! Read on below to find out why. The Importance of Sincerity With most interview questions, youre attempting to steer the conversation toward why youre the best candidate for the job. In this case, the interviewer is looking for some insight into who you are and what drives you. Since that is the goal, your answer may be somewhat personal, and thats okay. As always, its important to be genuine. You may believe that you should cite an influencer or thought leader in your field as inspiration, and you should- if its true. Dont go out of your way to make this cleanly fit the narrative of you as a candidate in that role. Some advice may suggest doing so. However, this is a deeply personal answer, and it will be obvious if youre pandering. Doing so would  just make you look disingenuous when you should be answering sincerely. The interviewer will be most drawn in by who genuinely inspires you, so you should speak from the heart. At the very least, if youre going to speak about a public figure without knowing about them already, make sure you do your research. Qualities of a Role Model On the other hand, if your role model is  someone in your family, or a good friend, discuss how they inspire you, and how that impacts you every day. If it does happen to be  your parents that inspired you to become who you are today, dont be afraid to share.  Whether it is a personal acquaintance or a public figure, try to discuss the qualities that you admired in them, especially if those qualities would translate well to the job you are interviewing for. If you had a friend who was always cool under pressure, thats a great quality to have in a manager. Any of these qualities you are admire are great to discuss in the interview. Unlike some of the other interview questions weve discussed, this question its okay for this answer to be personal. You answer should be sincere, because you want the interviewer to understand your passion and what inspires you. After all, that will make it easy to talk about naturally. Who inspires you to be you who you are? If you want to share let us know in the comments section below!
